I spent most of the my professional career working as a senior pesticide fate modeller, i.e. predicting the fate of pesticides in the environment once applied in agricultural fields. In 2002, I felt there was a need for an initiative to gather all pesticide fate modellers interested in sharing information and I created P(esticide)F(ate)MODELS which comprises an informational web site and an email discussion list. Thirteen years on, the PFMODELS discussion list comprises ca. 250 e-fate specialists and is a key resource for information sharing. Although I'm less involved than before in undertaking pesticide risk assessments, I still run the list on behalf of the community. For more information, visit: www.pfmodels.org |
